uson-logo.gifSuddenSpecials is the ecommerce division of US, Inc. a Washington Corporation founded in March of 1997. US Online is one of the old Internet companies in the country, operating under the same management since its founding.

In November of 2004, the Company released its service featuring the industry’s first “Deal of the Day” Feature. This component of the service featured three rotating offers from local area restaurants and retailers at 50% off or more. At its height, it reached over 4.8 million subscribers, including 250,000 in the Chicago metro area, through email updates. In 2008, the feature was copied by a competitor who raised more than a billion dollars and flooded the market with daily deals. This flood led consumers to run from deal to deal, creating an environment where local restaurants and retailers never received the full price return visits required to receive a return on this advertising investment. As such, many restaurants and retailers abandoned the use of Daily Deal advertising.

In response, the Company began offering products at large discounts on, evolving into the eCommerce business. To support this change and growth, the Company continuously evolved and extended the platform from 2012 to 2016. However, by the summer of 2016 it was clear that the platform could no longer be evolved or extended to meet today’s eCommerce business needs. In response, the Company launched as a pure play eCommerce platform in October 2016.
